This newest of Port Ludlow's trails opened in September 2004. A pleasant out-and-back walk by itself, it also serves as a bypass section on the Around-the-Bay Trail, allowing walkers of that trail to avoid the comer of Oak Bay Road and Paradise Bay Road. (See Around-the-Bay Trail description for the north-to-south route.)
Because of limited parking, if you want to walk just this trail segment by itself, it is best to park in the Village Center parking, lot and walk south-to-north. Cross Paradise Bay Road and walk down the brand-new street (Ebb Tide Court) to its end. The gravel trail is easily seen at the end of the cul-de-sac. The trail provides lovely views of Ludlow Cove and the end of Ludlow Bay before entering, a beautiful conifer forest. You will walk down into a rather steep ravine and up the other side. Since the hills are moderately steep, good walking shoes are recommended.
At the bottom of the ravine the trail crosses a big bridge over a stream which is small and shallow except during rainy periods. It then climbs up the other side and eventually joins Waterhouse Drive. From here, you can continue north on Waterhouse until it curves to the left and exits to Oak Bay Road. At this point, you can turn right and follow the Around-the-Bay Trail for a longer walk, turn left to walk south along the side of Oak Bay Road back to the Village Center, or simply turn around and return via the trail the way you came.
Special Notes
Port Ludlow's trails are privately owned, operated, and maintained for the residents of Port Ludlow and their guests.
Some sections of these trails pass near homes. Please show consideration for your neighbors' peace and privacy by leaving cell phones at home and keeping conversation volume down when passing close to homes. Keep your dog on leash and bring a bag to pick up all pet waste.
Because of potential fire danger, there is NO SMOKING on any of Port Ludlow's walks or trails.
